On 4th May 2018, legendary UFC fighter and Irish rapscallion Conor 'Notorious' McGregor turned himself in to the NYPD. An arrest warrant had been issued on charges of assault which were, in fairness, totally justified. The offence was caught on video (as I'm sure many of my debauched followers will know) and the circumstances are, in my humble view, characteristically hilarious. Following an altercation between Conor's teammate and his rival, Khabib at a press conference, McGregor sought revenge. He chartered a private jet from his hometown of Dublin to New York for himself and a dozen mates for the sole purpose of vandalising Khabib's bus. The fact that over the course of the extortionate 6 hour journey (plus the usual allowance either side for customs and luggage etc), he was still determined to go ahead with the plan is, I think, admirable and characteristic of his determination. The video footage shows McGregor hurling a trolley at the bus, adding an additional dynamic to the tale as the American press refer throughout to him throwing a 'dolly', make of that what you will... McGregor was appropriately reprimanded and charged with three counts of assault. Love him or hate him, The Notorious lives up to his name.
